Last week, I attended a Night Lighting Workshop with a local wedding photographer and educator, Kerri Lynne Photography. I was thrilled to have this opportunity to learn some new lighting techniques and connect with other local photographers! If there is one thing I know for sure, it is that there is always something to learn when it comes to photography!
While I love using natural light for my photos, sometimes as photographers, we have to create the light! This is where flash comes into play. Kerri’s workshop focused on night lighting and the use of off-camera flash for portraits. The evening started with some basic education on the use of flash and off-camera flash, then we moved into shooting. First, we worked on indoor lighting techniques for tablescapes and portraits. Our model couple, Jess and Andrew, were wonderful to work with through all of this, and I could not get over the gorgeous florals from Spruce Ridge Garden Center (a full list of vendors who helped make this amazing day possible is below)! Next, we moved outside to work on outdoor portraits with off-camera flash. I just love the way we were able to use the architecture of RedBarn20 to highlight the couple. Even when the rain moved in, it only added to the beauty of the photos!
I guess it’s safe to say, you truly don’t need to be afraid of a little rain on your wedding day. If you embrace it, it can make your day even more magical! I’m excited to share with you some of my favorite images from the workshop!
